Time Of Day Noise Restriction Laws NSW

What times are residential noise restrictions in place?

The Protection of the Environment Operations (Noise Control) Regulation 2017 covers neighbourhood noise laws. There are time restrictions on when noise from residential premises should not be heard inside a neighbour’s residence. An offence occurs if the noise continues after a warning has been given by a council or police officer.

How much notice do I need to give my neighbours before a job starts?

If you live in a metropolitan area, you must give your neighbours at least seven days’ notice.

If you live in rural and regional areas or a residential release area, you must give your neighbours at least two days’ notice.

It is the applicants’/customers responsibility to notify neighbours before our services begins and before our team arrives. This must be done in writing.
