What Is The Difference Between A Honed Finish And A Grind and Seal?
The main difference between a Honed Finish and a grind and seal is the sealers that are used. The honed finish has a penetrating sealer that absorbs into the concrete slab (like sunscreen on your skin, it penetrates down into the concrete rather than sitting on the surface). The penetrating sealer cannot be scratched off or worn down by foot traffic and therefore will last much longer.
A Honed Finish is easy to repair, and only minimal maintenance should be required to maintain the finish.
Whereas the sealer used for a Grind and Seal (G&S) option is a topical coating (like clear nail polish which can be scratched/damaged/gouged) It will also wear away over time depending on the type and volume of foot traffic.
For a Grind and Seal, however, this finish is not able to be easily patch-repaired and will most likely require more frequent and extensive maintenance over time due to the topical coating being far more susceptible to damage from normal day-to-day life.

How Do We Achieve An Almost 90 – 99% Dust-Free Concrete Grinding and Concrete Polishing Experience For Our Clients Free Of Charge?
We will grind your concrete slab with the use of high-powered Concrete Polishing equipment that is connected directly to a high-powered commercial dust extractor.
We will also perform demolition services with the use of high-powered commercial dust extraction equipment plugged directly into our tools.
Unfortunately, small amounts of dust are still produced and cannot be eliminated even with the most expensive high-end equipment and the latest technology. It should also be noted that certain equipment such as Jackhammers has a harder time trying to contain the dust even with the use of high-end dust extractors. While Concrete Grinders can contain dust a lot more easily. (Roughly 90 – 99.99% of the dust is still sucked up by a 3-engine high-powered commercial dust extractor that is plugged directly into the equipment) but sometimes a small amount of dust still escapes.
If you are concerned about the small amounts of dust that may get into areas that we are not working in such as the kitchens, bathrooms, cabinets, etc. we would advise that you seal off those areas that we are not working in with plastic and sticky tape before our team arrives to avoid delays.

In our workplace, we hang a “Silica Dust Warning Sign” to let our clients know that it is not safe to enter this working area while we are Honing Concrete without wearing the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that our employees are wearing. Even though we are using high-powered dust extractors made to handle the silica dust that our Concrete Grinder is producing, small amounts may still escape from our concrete grinder and enter the air. This is why our employees wear P2 dust masks.

To calculate square meters, you need to know the length and width of each area (Floor plans or manual measuring can help with this). This is also referred to as the area of the shape; most commonly, it’s a simple square or rectangle, but for more advanced areas, it can be harder and different shapes.

For example 1 x 1 = 1 square metre
