Minimum Job Charge Explained

A minimum job charge is a minimum amount you will bill the customer, applicable when a job is so small that charging per square metre doesn’t make up for the time spent on the job and administrative overheads of the business.

It should be noted that we don’t always charge a minimum job charge fee, but we do so when required.

Tile, Slate & Concrete Grinding jobs (this may include other services also) may face lower “minimum job charge fees” when the services are combined together and are completed in shorter periods of time such as one day, or have easy access on-site, allowing us to send fewer team members to complete your job, allowing us to reduce the “minimum job charge fees”

 – Businesses have a lot of expenses and overheads and simply cannot send out a skilled and trained team member to do a small job without charging a minimum job charge fee otherwise there is simply no profit to be made in the job. We are paying our full-time employees the top wage possible to deliver you the best possible service. Your understanding of this is greatly appreciated, It should be noted after these expenses a $1,200 minimum job charge fee job on average we only make $150 or less.

Reasons why minimum job charges exist:

 – Paying the team member(s) who did your job a full day pay of $450 (Regardless of how long the job took)

 – Paying 10% to GST

 – Paying 20% to TAX

 – Paying for business insurance (Public Liability)

– Paying for ICare worker’s insurance

 – Paying for tools

 – Paying for petrol

 – Paying for things such as vehicle and tool maintenance/repairs

 – Paying for waste disposal (Recycling whenever possible)

– Travel charges (Long Distance Jobs)

– Website expenses

– Office expenses

– Office staff salary

– Paying for advertising

– How many square metres the job is

– What service(s) are required

– Access to the site (Stairs, Lift, What Level, etc.)

OTHER FACTORS

FLOOR LEVELLING WORK:

– How many bags are required to complete the Floor Levelling project.

CONCRETE GRINDING WORK:

Accessibility on-site for our equipment:
– For example: if we have to carry a 150KG piece of equipment (Such as a large Concrete Grinder) upstairs rather than having access to an elevator, more staff will be required on-site to carry said heavy equipment up the stairs, which will increase the cost of your job.

What diamonds are required to complete the job:
– Some concrete grinding discs such as “PCD Diamond Discs” cost almost $600+ EACH and a standard Concrete Grinder requires THREE to operate, It may cost us up to $1,800 or more simply to buy the diamonds to start your job. Another important factor is how many diamonds will be required to complete the job. (This is extremely important as the diamonds are EXTREMELY expensive)

What we are grinding off the surface:
– For example, a simple light grind is far cheaper than removing a thick coating. Different materials are harder than others to remove and require more expensive and powerful diamonds. (Strong, thick waterproofing membranes that have a thickness of over 3MM are very tough to remove compared to a concrete slab that just needs a simple light grind.

– Factoring in everything we have stated above is why “minimum job charge fees” may be charged, thank you for your understanding.
